She took the cloth from his hands, pressing it to her lips.
Amidst the scald, and amidst the smell of tea, Lynette could make out the scent beneath.
It was of her Father, who, in spite of their frigidity, their unfeeling nature, maintained the hearth by which she and her brethren laid their head beside each and every night. The Father who helped her raise a sword higher than her shoulder, the Father who helped her understand how to weave the night, and the Father who stayed up as late as she did now.
The cloth smelt of ash and burnt blood, of metal that sparked as it crashed down on its victims.
It smelt of home.
A small thank-you gift to a friend: Lynette is experiencing her first heat and it is coincidentally her first time seeing her Father's other form.

And finally number three, his absolute disdain for the Akademiya and the manners in which they conduct their diplomacy.
But there was one personal fact no one knows about. One deep and severe secret that he has guarded his entire life and will forever keep in his grave.
