Small, fast, and precise. No one would ever say the first word to his face, but that was how people would usually describe the captain of the guard. A flash of lightning for those who couldn't keep up with him. From trainee to guard, from guard to captain... from captain to royalty?
That's how quick and absurd his progression through the ranks was. He's left many monsters in the dust (to no one's surprise), so of course he and his brother ended up leaving their own universe in the dust as well.

So Liu Mingyan wrote to the prospective taifu, who accepted the offer of employment and asked for a month to settle his affairs before moving to the palace.
Luo Binghe, having nothing further to do with the matter, left for the northern desert with Mobei-jun and Sha Hualing.
Or: eleven years after crossing paths with the kindly Shen Qingqiu, Luo Binghe meets Shen Yuan.

He did not stay to hear whom she meant to betroth him to. It did not matter; he loved his Shizun, his Yuan-ge, Shen Yuan—he could not bear to be parted from him even for a day, let alone the rest of his life—and his mother meant to banish the very sun of Luo Binghe's world and wed him into a lucrative alliance, when she had defied the entire Jianghu to marry Luo Binghe's father.
It could not stand. It would not stand. Luo Binghe would have no spouse at all, if it were not Shen Yuan.
Or: in Crown Prince Luo Binghe's seventeenth year, his parents decide to marry him off and send his beloved Shizun back to the mortal realm. This is a catastrophe for more reasons than one.
