Summary
Kaveh and Alhaitham"s holiday in Mondstadt takes a turn for the romantic.
Venti’s giggle belies the serious curiosity of his question. “You"re in love with him, right?” he asks, innocently twirling a braid around his finger and acting for all the world as if those words won"t have a profound effect on Kaveh.
“Uhhhh??” is all Kaveh can think to say as reality slams back in. The cold seems to soak his very bones, making him shiver despite all the layers, as his heart screeches to a halt. “W-what makes you say that?” He stumbles over his words as well as over his own feet, a surprisingly strong arm reaching out to steady him. He mumbles his thanks.
“You look at him like he hung the very moon,” Venti says, “and your bickering is quite unlike anything else. And don’t think I didn"t notice you two playing footsie at the bar.”
“That was—he was just trying to annoy me!” Kaveh argues. “And it worked, by the way, it always works because he"s the most annoying man in Teyvat and I can"t stand him and I most certainly am not—” he cuts a glance to either side, making sure no one is listening in, and lowers his voice to a hiss “—in love with him!”

aka, the one where Aventurine is finally sort-of settling into his "new" life, except there are café shenanigans, (kinda?)lovers"-tiffs, a child who needs him, maybe a little bit more trauma to unpack, and a whole two-persons" worth of memories for him to sift through - not necessarily in that order.

"That sounds more like love to me," Lambad says nonchalantly.
Kaveh points at him accusingly. "It is not love, it is turmoil. I am in turmoil."
Kaveh turns to Al-Haitham then, and part of him visibly softens at the sight. "Well, maybe part of it is love," he concedes. "I"m in love with you, Al-Haitham, did you know that?"
Al-Haitham, despite himself, smiles. It makes Kaveh"s eyes widen. "I do know that, Kaveh. You told me a few nights ago, do you remember?"
"I think so."
"Good. Then you should remember that I told you to tell me that when you"re sober, and maybe then I"ll say it back."
Kaveh squints at him. ""Maybe?" What do you mean by "maybe?" I have changed my mind. You are a bastard, and I am not in love with you."
There is no winning with Kaveh. But maybe, there is no losing either.
In which Kaveh keeps drunkenly confessing to Al-Haitham.
