    He’s still not entirely certain he heard it; the remark was a quick slip of the tongue, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it phenomenon. Wukong doesn’t share his unease.

    “The glamours thing?” Like it’s the most natural, normal thing in the world to admit, Wukong laughs a little. “Yeah, embarrassing, right? It’s been, what, over a thousand years since the eyes, and I still haven’t gotten over them.”

    OR: the one in which wukong doesn't think he's nice enough to be worth looking at, and macaque firmly disagrees

    After freeing Wukong from the Scroll of Memory, there is little else for the mystic monkeys to do but train while they wait for Azure to bring the fight to Flower Fruit Mountain. That, and attempt some decent conversation, so it's good thing Nezha is surprisingly great (and brutally honest) company. They may even be bold enough to try having a conversation with each other, if they can keep their shit together long enough.

    (has the teeny tiniest reference to one of my other fics 'Aftermath' but it's not a requirement that you read it before you read this one, all the stories in this series can be read independently)
