It’s not like Sanemi would have spared Giyuu a second look, or a third one or anything - if it weren’t for his hair in more disarray than usual, inky jet black splattered against porcelain pale skin, for the way the light ricochets off the painted piano to caress the soft curve of his cheek and the chiseled angle of his jaw, for the stars in his midnight blue eyes when he turns to the keys of the grand piano…
“Just call me Sanemi,” he settles on after realizing he’s been silently gawking for a while. At the piano, obviously, at its discreet golden branding and its ivory keys spreading infinitely in both directions, not at the guy.
“So, Sanemi, would you like to play something?”
Giyuu quietly pats the space next to him on the chair... The problem is, Sanemi hasn’t really practiced anything else these days, and he doesn’t want to be a disappointment (to the grand piano, he wouldn’t want to desecrate such a majestic instrument, not to the pretty pianist because he’s definitely not here to court the pretty pianist).

Summary
Just his luck, Giyuu finds himself stuck with his annoyingly attractive coworker who hates him the most within this sinuous interstice between large rocks. The space is barely tall enough for them to crouch, and any movement sends their bodies clashing and colliding, ache dully echoing through their sore, wary limbs after their most recent battle. Overhead, the gaps between rocks are so narrow that even the weakest breeze struggles to whistle through, and only a dim half-sliver of mangled moonlight filters in.
“Could you be any more useless?” Sanemi groans at his rival, the obscurity leaving Tomioka to only guess the scowl that stretches atop his scarred, crazed features.
Not that Giyuu has the room to do much to help, to his own defense, given that even when he squeezes all the way into his end of the tiny space, their knees still touch.

He couldn’t afford to be that weak, that trusting. He couldn’t. He knew the consequences.
Kaeya's forced off his suppressants, forced into heat, and forced to take Diluc as a partner. Things spin out of his control, and then back, but they don't go back to what they were.
