Summary
So Ash Lynx died. Everyone knew that.
And Aslan Callenreese left his incredibly generous inheritance to his friends. And everyone is sad and everything hurts.
But things aren't as they seem. Not quite. Because names are not people. And Ash has decided that with Eiji finally safe in Japan, it is time for him to be done, to be free. Or at least to avoid going to prison for a very very long time. So when he's given the opportunity to 'use his powers for good' by joining witness protection and becoming a member of the FBI task force created specifically to help abused and trafficked children, kids like Ash... well he doesn't really have a choice, now does he?
And thus is Agent Rick Henry born. It's not an easy transition to being on this side of the law. But he's finally got the power to really stick it to these assholes. If only he knew how to say goodbye.
For those of you that have been following Postcards, this is the sister fic, I've been mentioning.
For those of you starting here... There might be a few moments of confusion, but this should be able to be read as a stand alone. (I'd recommend reading Postcards first and coming back, but I'm not the boss of you!)

Summary
It’s the summer of 1973, Ash Lynx has just turned thirteen, and his entire life revolves around waiting for the post to arrive, and spending as much time as he can at the old European Beech that sits on the very edge of their property.
Beneath the branches of this tree older than time itself it is always summer, and the very air shimmers with a stagnant magic that Ash is desperate to cling to and believe in. He waits here too–waits, and waits–for Griff to come home, for his life to return to normalcy.
But outside those branches, seasons turn.
There’s a new boy in class.
There’s a churning hatred and violence brewing beneath the town.
And change is something that is brimming with possibility, and impossible to avoid.Bookmarked by mad_like_a_lynx
