Then he leans in close to Suguru’s ear, lowering his voice to a murmur. “But you won’t break my rules, will you, Suguru? After all, your girls like it here already.” The way he says his name is purposeful, like he’s leering and wants him to know it.

At first, Johnny is worried that the boy (Jaehyun, he notes again) is simply being nosy and trying to see what he’s drawing, as most people who approach him at the museum tend to be. But when he really looks at the boy, he instead sees that he’s not really looking at Johnny, but Water Lilies in front of them. Jaehyun nods then, towards the painting spanning the room in front of them. “Monet,” he says again. “You like him?”
He’s a little sorry about it, but Johnny can’t help but scoff. It’s not condescending or accompanied by any malice, but he really just can’t help it, not when he’s a smartass and he doesn’t often get approached by the museum staff to chit-chat about the paintings. Random tourists and other enthusiasts were one thing, but for the most part, the employees of the MoMA usually left him alone. “Didn’t really know him personally,” he says in response after closing his sketchbook. “But I’m sure he was quite the guy.”
(Or, Johnny is an artist and Jaehyun loves to analyze both the art and him)
