“What are you wearing?” Buck asks.
Eddie’s laugh is sharp and loud, not having expected Buck to say that.
“Really? That’s the best you’ve got?”
“Eddie. It’s a classic. Tell me.”
“What if I said I’ve got nothing on?” Eddie asks, purposely pitching his voice lower.
“Hey,” Buck scolds him. “First rule of phone sex: no lying.”
“There are rules?”
“You are so difficult.”
Eddie tells Buck to text him whenever he"s thinking of Tommy, so he doesn"t have to keep baking. Safe to say, things...escalate.

Eddie lets out a whoosh of breath. Okay, he wasn"t expecting that comparison.

He can hear Eddie"s breath hitch in his throat across the line. Fuck, fuck, Buck has taken it too far, he couldn"t just shut up. He"s about to beg for forgiveness and say he"s just tired and not thinking clearly when Eddie laughs.
"Well, yeah, I"d hope not."
(Eddie calls Buck after a hookup goes wrong. Naturally, the conversation goes to what they"re both like in bed.)

"Yes," Buck says immediately, not even waiting a single second, and god, he is embarrassing.
But Eddie just smiles, all bright and radiant, and Buck feels his heart beat faster in his chest at the sight.
It"s fine. Buck"s fine. He"s gotten his leg crushed by a ladder truck, survived a tsunami, gotten struck by lightning and died. He can handle maybe, possibly being in love with his best friend.

Summary
Chris wants his dad. He wants his bed. But he can"t have those yet, and he and Dad never really text because if Dad’s not working they’re usually together or one of them is too busy to text, so texting Dad feels weird, but Buck… He can text Buck.

The little dots pop up immediately, which Chris wasn’t expecting.
I’m not sure. I do know that it technically wasn’t a box, it was a pithos, which is like a big jar they used for storage. Box is a mistranslation, but it became so widely used that we all just roll with it now.
It’s a very classic Buck response. The dots keep going.
On that note, “hope” isn’t an exact translation either. Another way that people translate it is “deceptive expectation.” Hope isn’t necessarily deceptive, and we tend to use it in a positive way, so it’s maybe not the BEST word to use, but I guess in English we don’t have a better one for “deceptive expectation” and “hope” sounds pithier.
