Christopher is out without a chaperone for the first time and Eddie is stressing. Buck does his best to keep him calm, but then they get a call from a certain Sergeant. Thankfully, things are not entirely as they seem.

They’re thirty minutes into a documentary about the greatest MLB players of all time when Eddie’s phone starts to ring. Buck doesn’t put much thought into it until Eddie’s suddenly on his feet.
“Woah,” he drops his drink from his lips. “Is it Chris?”
“No,” he turns the screen towards him. “Worse.”

“What happens to me when you guys get divorced?”
The question is so abrupt it takes Buck a couple of seconds to fully process it.
In that time, Christopher turns his head so his eyes settle on Buck’s and this time Buck doesn’t push away the need to shelter him, he embraces the feeling just as he embraces Christopher, one arm wrapping around Christopher’s shoulders. Christopher leans his body against Buck, and Buck’s heart soars and hurts in equal measures.

Trigger warning: discussion of suicide
“Excuse me, sir? Are you Mr. Kishimoto?” The man doesn’t so much as blink. “Right. I was afraid you’d say that.” In one short huff and the very distant gasps of the crowd below, Buck stretches a leg over his own balcony, balancing himself on the edge. That gets the man’s attention.
OR
With things no longer the same after the lawsuit, Buck decides that he needs to leave LA. Before he does, though, the team answers a call to rescue a jumper. Buck's heart-to-heart with the man sets off a mess of reactions that just might convince him he still has a home at the 118.

“Woah!”
He grips the yellow collar of that shirt, dragging Chris away from the roaring current and to his chest. Once they’re safe and secure in the center of the truck, he lets himself breathe.
“Ok,” Buck chokes. “We’re just gonna sit like this for a while, alright?”
Christopher nods, holding him just as tight. “Sounds good.”
OR
Buck catches Chris before he falls into the water. Now, it's up to him to get them through the carnage of the tsunami and back to his father. At any cost.
