"Hey, Eds..." he started, not quite sure how to ask.
"Hmm?" Eddie hummed back at him, not even moving from their comfortable position.
"Why - why weren't you surprised when I first told you about Tommy?" He felt Eddie's body tense next to his. And when the other man didn't reply he continued, "You were surprised to learn that he was gay, but not about me being bi. Why not?"
Eddie shifted, moving over on the couch so that he and Buck were no longer touching, and he then moved even further so that there was a distinct gap between the two of them. Buck turned his head toward Eddie, but the other man was very deliberately still staring at the TV in front of them which was now just a blue screen. He looked... pained? Buck couldn't fathom why his question was causing such a reaction in his best friend. Eddie, still facing away from Buck, closed his eyes tightly.
"So we're finally talking about this?" His voice was quiet and thick with emotion.

Turns out poker night was a date and Buck didn't even know it.

Summary
The thing is, Eddie’s not entirely sure what the state of the ranch is like. He has fond memories of the place, of the cows and the horses, and the little lake down by the cove in the treeline. But he'd only been young when they'd left, moving to central El Paso so his father could work, and his parents hardly ever talked about the place again.
But it's a place to go. A place for them, just them.

Summary
Margaret and Phillip spent years not seeing their children and then slowly got back into contact with them until this point, where they think they’re in a pretty decent place, actually.
Except then Buck gets injured and, as his hospital room fills with evidence of a life they know absolutely nothing about and they meet and hear about people they’ve never heard of (including a child?!), they realise that perhaps it was all simply too little, too late after all.

Summary
Despite everyone still being angry about the lawsuit, Buck saves Eddie's life on a call and appears to pay the ultimate price. The team, Maddie, and Athena deal with the loss of their Buckaroo. They don't know the hospital has made a huge mistake until Buck nearly gives the ME a heart attack. Now they have to deal with all the feelings losing a member of the FireFam.
Based on the Tumblr Prompt: The guy with sleep paralysis who woke up during autopsy has me wanting to see Buck end up similarly. While the team is shunning him they go on a call and Buck pushes Eddie out of the way of some mystery chemical. He breaths some in and Bobby yells at him. At the station Buck is stuck with chores and then the chemical takes hold and Buck "dies" in some corner. Eddie finds him and everyone is horrified. Buck wakes up right when the doc is about to cut him. Traumatized Buck and guilty fam.
