    Jacaerys had never been terribly tall, but he seemed especially diminutive next to his new spouse, who towered with both literal height and that self-obsessed alpha swagger that always added a few imaginary inches. There was the faintest of smiles on her step-brother"s face when he tilted his head back to kiss Aemond. It was too far away to see his eyes and tell for sure, but Baela could just picture which smile he wore, undoubtedly the same one they’d seen Alicent don every day like an ill-fitting article of clothing. An empty and placating smile. Those eyes so heartbreakingly pretty you didn’t even notice they were devoid of feeling, unless you were really looking for it. Aemond probably never would.

    Jacaerys shivered, his face coated by a thin sheen of sweat. His cheeks were completely flushed, the rosy pink color spreading down his neck and beneath the collar of his shirt.

    Cregan had seen such effects before in the town’s taverns, where men and women alike slipped silvery powders into stews and wine when an easy target came their way. He’d rounded up the lot of them and thought that was the end of it.

    And yet, here was the crown prince—drunk and feverish and begging for the touch of Cregan’s hand.

    Jacaerys is slipped an aphrodisiac during a feast by a mysterious figure. A pining Cregan"s self-restraint becomes tested, for it’s Lord Stark whom the prince seeks to help ease the pain.
