He wakes with a throbbing pain deep within his temples, and his back has droplets of sweat covering the expanse of it. It is still dark outside, and he isn’t willing to rouse a seemingly restful Erik for his own sake, but he thinks he might just cry. The only thing more frightening than his own failure is not being able to protect his brother the way he should. It scares the shit out of Lyle– how uncontrollable it really is.

Summary
Not for the first time, Erik wondered what it was like to kiss him, to feel the warm pressure of Lyle’s lips sliding against his, the slow roll of his tongue in Erik’s mouth. He’s had dreams about it, although he should probably refer to them as nightmares, where he’d wake up shaking, underwear soaked, wondering what kind of person he was to have those kinds of fantasies about his own brother. Considering the household he grew up in, it was probably as natural as breathing for their relationship to progress this way, when Lyle was the common denominator in his life when it came to most things, when Lyle was the first person Erik ever trusted, the first person who made him feel safe, the first person who showed him what love was—or, at least what love was supposed to be. By extension, he didn’t see why Lyle couldn’t be his first kiss.
