You hum, pretending to consider, but your game isn’t over yet. He moved his wings again only a moment or two before this; there’s still three more rounds of this yet. “No, not yet, love,” you tell him. He lets out another sob, and you continue to soothe him.
He calms down soon after that. You continue to pet him gently, knowing he appreciates the tenderness, the kindness.
You let him catch his breath for a couple more minutes, murmuring softly to him all the while. “You’re doing so well, darling. So gorgeous for me while so desperate, aren’t you? Will you tell me your colour, duck?”
“Green,” he tells you immediately. He still sounds desperate, even if it’s lost the insistence, the edge that you know means he’s going to come. “You are cruel to me.”
You place a kiss on his cheek, ever-so-gentle, lips curving upwards. “You love it.”

Summary
As the Tarnished entered the dark room, feet padding softly across the cold stone floor, a voice rang out in the darkness.
"Mongrel intruder."
She stopped in her tracks, trying to puzzle out where the voice was coming from. Gaze drifting about the room, she turned to try and find its owner in the dim light. A soft sound caught her attention, and she turned back to see gentle candlelight whorl into shape about her, revealing a grand, circular room, adorned with candles at every turn.
Captured by the sudden light, she barely noticed the small, red serpent, drifting out toward her. As a flash of red slithered just out of her vision, she spun about quickly, only to come face-to-face with the serpent barely inches from her nose.
"Thou'rt Tarnished, it seemeth."
Mea, a Tarnished of no renown, finds herself in the jaws of a villain. What ensues would leave her indelibly scarred for the remainder of her years, though the memories would soon turn into something precious she kept close to her heart.
