Summary
Rescued by Palpatine as a child from Jedi that killed her parents, Rey has been training for fourteen years as his apprentice, cut off from the galaxy and raised amidst the storms of Exegol. When she is tasked with finding the fragments to a map that could lead her to Luke Skywalker, she sees it as the opportunity to take her revenge and finally prove to her Master that she is at one with the dark side of the Force. But her taste of freedom brings with it burning questions about herself, her past, and whether the dark side is truly where she belongs.
Ben Solo has been running for a long time. Taking after his father, he spends his days traversing the galaxy from gig to gig, trying the lay to rest the demons of his past. But a chance encounter on Jakku brings him face to face with an unknown Sith Apprentice, and he finds himself drawn back into the cosmic battle he spurned so long ago. The darkness has always threatened to consume him, but an unexpected beacon of light may show him the way back to the Force.
As surprise meetings turn into an uneasy alliance journeying the galaxy together in search of Luke Skywalker, both must look inward to discover what their place truly is in all this.

To save my soul?” He speaks derisively and his lips press together, as if recalling a distasteful memory. Rey senses the embers of his own anger rising to meet hers through their bond’s echo.
She draws herself to her full height and stares him directly in the eyes. “You’re beyond saving.”

Ten months after the Battle of Crait, the Last Jedi and the Supreme Leader of the First Order have kept their bond tightly shut, allowing the seeds of their mutual rejection to blossom into hurt and anger. When the location of the Resistance base is revealed, Rey must make the ultimate sacrifice: the lives of her allies and friends, in exchange for yielding her freedom to the First Order, indefinitely.
But new threats soon lead to the discovery that Rey cannot draw lines between the Dark and the Light as easily as she once thought, and blur the boundaries between hatred, lust, and—eventually—a deeper bond than neither her nor Kylo Ren could have ever conceived of.

Rey tosses and turns in her bed, her thin camisole twisting and tangling up in the most aggravating way possible. Although it is cool and damp outside, somehow, her quarters feel annoyingly hot. After the rigorous day of training with Leia and then subsequent strategy meetings with the Resistance where the smallest and most seemingly inconsequential threads tangled into an ever-growing knot faster than she could blink, she should be exhausted.
But she isn’t.
