Summary
In the aftermath of her sister's attack on the council, Vi stayed. She stayed because if she had been there in the first place, Caitlyn wouldn’t have been kidnapped, and her mother wouldn’t have died. If Vi had stayed, she wouldn’t have lost Powder, and she wouldn’t have watched her sister transform into the very monster she had sworn to protect her from.
But Vi never seemed to be in the right place at the right time. The people she loved got hurt whether she was there or not, so what good was she to anyone? And so, there she was, standing in the pit fighting arena, watching a crowd of some of the worst of humankind egg her on.
She was either going to beat the shit out of someone or get the shit beaten out of herself, and she honestly didn’t care which.
If she was lucky, maybe she’d never have to wake up again.
OR: My take on the CaitVi reunion that would follow after the "Nothing to Lose" S2 teaser clip. Note that I wrote this fanfic before viewing Act 1 of Season 2 so it might not be totally canon compliant.

The sensation of Caitlyn resting on her, so close, felt oddly familiar—though it didn’t make sense. This was the first time Vi had been conscious for it, yet her body seemed to recognize it. “You remember, don’t you?” Caitlyn asked, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve heard stories of comatose patients being able to feel and hear their loved ones, even if they couldn’t respond.”
“It’s like my body already knows you—knows your touch. It feels familiar, like I’ve known it forever. But at the same time…” Vi paused, exhaling in mild frustration. “My head hasn’t caught up yet, so it’s all new and familiar at once. It’s throwing me for a loop.”

Caitlyn, riddled with guilt, has spent the last two months caring for Vi as she lay in a coma following the events of S2E6. But what if it was Caitlyn who was there when Vi finally opened her eyes? As Vi awakens to find Caitlyn by her side, the depth of Caitlyn's care—and the toll it has taken on both of them—begins to unfold. Guilt, trust, and unspoken feelings collide as they navigate the fragile space between recovery and reconciliation.
