Klaus’ head felt like it was full of lead, and his limbs were heavy and numb. The dead were still screaming his name, but instead of the usual rage-filled accusations, the deformed ghosts of the mausoleum seemed almost...desperate?
Before he could ponder further on it, the thick door swung open, a strip of sunlight momentarily blinding him. He looked up to meet his father’s blown pupils, the closest sign of excitement that was ever expressed on his cold face. Klaus felt his stomach drop.
