Summary
Sophia managed to get Buck alone in the kitchen. “Hey, Buck, right? I’ve heard so much about you. Seriously, Eddie does not shut up about you.”
Buck gave her a bashful smile, and yeah, Sophia could definitely see how easily Eddie fell for him. The air around this guy screamed warmth and comfort, two things that Sophia knew Eddie craved.
“I can say the same about you,” he said.
“How long have you two been together?”
The way Buck tilted his head reminded Sophia of an overgrown puppy, the pull of his eyebrows bringing attention to his frankly beautiful eyes. “Together?”
Eddie and Buck were in El Paso for Christmas. The Diaz family has opinions.

Summary
"Eddie is acting weird, right?" Buck asked the team.
Three sets of eyes stare at him, but his eyes are still focused on Eddie or like Hen likes to call him, "The Coward". Stomping through the station like a toddler. Buck only looks away, once Eddie disappears from view. His eyes landing on his team. All three of them wearing the same "duh" expression on their faces.
"What?" Buck asks furrowing his brows. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
Hen, the only one with a knowing smile on her face, turn away from Buck and looks at Bobby. The knowing smile morphing into a knowing smirk. "Out of all the firefighter you could have picked, you picked these two idiots?"
"Hey!" Buck says in an offended tone. "Don't insult Eddie like that!"
"Idiots," Hen repeats.

Summary
It takes days for Buck to decide what he’s going to say.
You didn’t even let me say goodbye.
It takes two months for him to get a reply.
I’m sorry.
I hope you can still forgive me.
Buck knows he can; it’s as simple as breathing, as inevitable as the beating of his heart. His body would lead him to it even without his permission. It’ll go on forever until it doesn’t and by then it won’t matter to him, because he’ll be dead.

Eddie leaves. Buck visits him in El Paso.

Summary
“When did you guys get back?”
Eddie stepped closer, leaning against the counter, his hands resting lightly on its edge. “A few hours ago,” he said. “We came straight here.”
Buck’s eyes widened slightly, his breath hitching as he processed Eddie’s words.
“You didn’t have to,” Buck said, his voice a little unsteady. His gaze dropped for a moment before coming back up, blue eyes piercing.
“I know,” Eddie replied, the corners of his mouth lifting into a small smile.
(Or, Eddie brings Chris home, Buck bakes cookies, and they both figure out how to stop running from the things that scare them most.)
