“What’s not supposed to be me?” Ben prompted. Riley shrank back from the hand that tried to squeeze his shoulder.
“Dying.”

Set a few weeks after Book of Secrets. The rain drives Riley into Ben’s house where he tries to dismantle a microwave, has a panic attack or two, and learns that he, apparently, is not expendable.

After another stupid argument and after Ben suggests Riley is in love with him, Abigail re-evaluates their relationship.

In Abigail’s mind, Riley is just a part of Ben—somewhere between a tag-along kid brother and non-cancerous inoperable tumor. She had accepted his place in Ben’s life without much difficulty because it had always seemed so innocent, so important to Riley, so…sad.
But had she ever really looked at him? Had Ben?

Summary
There’s something missing from Light Yagami’s skull. There’s something missing and he can’t put his finger on what it is. Memories seem vague, motives are aimless, people he’s met had occurred under blurry circumstances, and something is simply missing entirely. In its place is something which obstructs his sleep and mocks the missingness of his brain. He’ll find what had left. He just has to look hard enough.
TL;DR: The handcuffs/Yotsuba arc but Light has nightmares. Also I harp on the concept of memories a lot. Plus there’s some experimental symbolism and repetition. This is incredibly plot compliant and strictly follows the manga timeline.
