She can feel the memory of a kiss lingering on her mouth, and she brushes her index finger across her lips, confused, before wiping away tears she doesn’t remember crying.
Michelle knows she's missing someone; she just doesn't know who.

Another silence falls between them, heavy and borderline soul-crushing, yet popping with an undeniable static that has his senses on the highest alert. The overwhelming urge to laugh tugs at him, almost as loud as the dull ache thrumming in his chest. A wayward curl has fallen across her face, halfway covering her eye in a way that has his hand itching to brush it aside, to tuck it behind her ear.
“How were finals?” He asks instead.
Her face contorts in a grimace-smile as she sucks in a breath. “I mean, we’ll see,” she laughs.
“C’mon,” Peter says, consciously stopping himself from reaching out and touching her arm. He nods, cracking a grin, his heart skipping wildly—erratic enough that he wonders if he should be worrying about going into cardiac arrest. “I’m sure you killed it. You’re, like, the smartest person in the world.”
She averts her gaze, looking down at her shoes in a way that makes his chest ache.
God, he’s missed her.
