    "One," Steve says, and then, after a moment, "and a half."

    "And a half?" Eddie boggles at him, "What does that mean?"

    "He's figuring it out!" says Steve, defensively, "Taking his time, y'know? Whatever, the point is. It's cool you're gay, man."

    Eddie comes out to Steve, and Steve's heartbroken about it for some reason. Eddie thinks Steve's dating Robin. Everyone else thinks Steve and Eddie have been dating this whole time. Robin doesn't get paid enough for this shit.

    Also, Hawkins has been cracked open like a badly-baked cake, and everyone's settled into the most mundane apocalypse possible. Eddie Munson starts a radio programme about it.

    Meanwhile, Steve gets his nails painted, and outsources a crisis he isn't having.

    This is definitely one I'm going to be coming back to, I already know that. The sheer amount of tenderness, crying, and physical comfort is a fucking GIFT in this story. This is something to read for cathartic affirmation. And, integrally, this is an example of perfect gender-fuckery being worked through in a fic.

    This ripped my heart out and left me raw. I should absolutely know better than to get into Remus/Sirius stuff like this because the tragedy HURTS me but WOW was this a beautifully told story. The characterizations in this!!! I cannot believe. Everyone is so fully realized and individual and the canon characters blend seamlessly with the original characters. The worldbuilding, the way Remus's experiences with muggle Britain are fully explored and fleshed out, the horror and tension and dread of the war, all of these are just incredibly done. I cannot get over how good this was. I've got book hang over, which is maybe unsurprisingly because I finished the last 500 pages in six days. And that was after I absolutely devoured the first 1800 pages in 13 days and had to take a break because they left school and the inevitable was looming. And I had a book hang over from THAT session too. Anyway, this was fantastic and I'm sure I'll be returning to it again.
