Summary
Fresh out of work from a forced vacation, Shiro has run out of things to do. He’s called everywhere, and while he is happy to know that the Galran Veterans Association is fully staffed, and that the kits at the shelter have company, and that the soup kitchen is covered, the lack of service opportunities does nothing to alleviate the tightness in his chest that says he must be doing something.
He considers the last words he heard over comms. Might I suggest a procreation clinic?

To the surprise of Keith's parents, plant mages who run a vineyard on the quiet island of Astermel, Keith's healing magic manifests three days before his 18th birthday, making him the first in his family with such powers. At the same time, Shiro arrives on the island, a boy with a magetech arm who can speak to animals and charm bees. Both of them begin their mage apprenticeships expecting to learn how to control their magic, but neither expects how much they'll change one another's lives or how deep their feelings for each other might grow over the course of a year.

It’s not difficult, Shiro thinks, realizing who is lurking in the shadows behind Lance, by the pillars of the oddly-lit cantina. It’s not difficult at all – if he can get past the rushing memories of laser-fire and binary sunsets and Corellia’s relentless waves, all swept under purple-gleamed eyes and a soft kiss against his lips – and if Shiro can swallow his tattered pride and the ice in his heart, he can almost forget the burn of where his arm used to be, forget the moment he turned his head and found himself in the crosshairs of Keith’s blaster fire.
Almost.
It’s not difficult, Shiro realizes, as Keith slowly makes his way towards them, slithering in like a ghost. It’s unbearable.
Keith had promised forever, in the star-lined, blue backdrop of hyperspace and past the rush of Star Destroyers and Naboo’s glittering rivers. All it takes is blaster fire, a broken starfighter wing and crashing into the gunship’s side for things to go terribly wrong. Shiro doesn’t know when it all fell apart.
