Charlie came to a stop at the light, about to tell Nick it was time to go since he was almost back to his dorms, when he suddenly jolted forward. It took him by surprise, he couldn’t help the yelp that escaped him.
Nick was immediately talking, sounding far more panicked than Charlie even felt. “You okay? Charlie? Did something happen?”
“Yes, but I’m fine, I think someone just hit my car."
“Oh my god-”
“Just a tap,” Charlie jumped in, shaking his head and taking stock of himself. Nothing hurt, he barely even moved forward, the seatbelt saved him from smacking his head on the steering wheel at least. “I’m fine, but I’ve gotta go see what’s going on. I promise I’ll call you back in a minute.”

Summary
Charlie knew, without a doubt, he was being a bit extra about how much he missed Nick.
It wasn’t like he was surprised by it, they both knew it was going to be hard and everyone else seemed to agree but actually living through it was a bit harder than he thought.
The countdown on his calendar was the only physical reminder of when he’d see Nick again. He might have talked about it a lot, telling everyone how many days left, lamenting about how long two months really was. Tori wasn’t quiet in her annoyance, rolling her eyes and changing the subject if Charlie went on for too long.
Tao and Isaac were far less nice about it, usually down right ignoring him, or quickly changing the subject anytime Charlie was going off about it.
And to their credit, he knew he had no reason to be like this. He talked to Nick daily, via text and at least three times a week over phone or Facetime. They were communicating and growing as a couple and that could include missing each other more than what most people would consider normal.

Summary
Charlie didn’t like fighting with his mum. He wasn’t trying to get into argument after argument with her, especially over the stupidest of things. Like at dinner, when Charlie couldn’t eat another bite of chicken or he’d fail his Maths exam the next day and she just wouldn’t get it.
“Charlie,” she’d said sternly, her arms crossed over her chest, her head tilted slightly up. Charlie was mirroring her with his arms crossed over his chest, but he was looking down at the unappetizing piece of chicken. “Failing your Maths test has nothing to do with what you’re eating and more to do with spending all night on the phone with Nick.”
Admittedly, Charlie had stayed on the phone with Nick overnight on Monday, but it was because he needed someone to stop him from hurting himself again. He needed to hear Nick’s voice, see his beautiful face, and focus on what was good in his life. He’d made Tori babysit him on the weekend, he couldn’t bug her again. And while he felt bad for keeping Nick up, his boyfriend insisted, and he watched Nick doze off well before Charlie did, anyway.

Summary
Charlie looked up from his phone to see who he assumed was Nick Nelson, standing by his desk, smiling.
Now, Charlie had seen handsome men in the past, beautiful ones, pretty ones, even, but Nick Nelson was something else entirely. He was just - well - fucking perfect in every way possible. It was like someone took all of the things Charlie found attractive in a human and modeled Nick straight from that. He was tall; not so tall it was impossible to kiss, but tall enough that Charlie would need to go on his tiptoes to get there.
He had sandy blonde hair that flopped in front of his face perfectly, like he was out of some cheesy romance novel or something. His face was perfect too; perfect nose, perfect honey brown eyes, very kissable lips and a smattering of freckles that Charlie wanted to personally map out, that traveled across his face and down below his neckline.
Did someone order a fucking escort to show up as IT? Charlie was waiting for stripper music to start playing any minute now, and clothing to go flying off.
