Summary
“Don’t like anyone else but me,” whispers Nagi, and the ghost of every word on his skin makes Reo shiver all the way down to the bone.
The door bursts open.
As a reminder, the world still hates Reo, and Reo with Nagi most of all. “Mikage, you told me he dumped you!”
When Shidou finds out Reo can copy Sae, Nagi is less than thrilled at him stealing his partner. Nagi pines and Reo doesn’t get it, they both suck at communicating, and Shidou is the world’s worst and most twisted wingman, but Nagi and Reo still somehow find their way back to each other.

Summary
“Ah! Reo Mikage, right?”
Nagi watches the smile on Reo’s face falter for half a second. Reo always hates this part of meeting someone new—Nagi’s watched him introduce himself to enough people to catch the barely noticeable shift in Reo’s expression whenever his full name with the permanent attachment of “Mikage” is mentioned. Nagi sometimes wonders if Reo would prefer a different family name. Maybe something more like “Nagi.”
Nagi’s getting distracted. He tunes back in to see Reo nod.
“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Nishida starts, and Nagi resists the urge to roll his eyes. Here it comes, Nagi thinks. “You want to win the World Cup, right?”
…that’s new.
Reo’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “Yeah,” he agrees. “I’m taking this team to nationals, and then I’m winning the World Cup.”
“With me,” Nagi interrupts before he’s even realized that he’s stepped forward. “Right, Reo?”

Summary
"Your eyes are like the toilet," Nagi says. "Toilet water," he adds as an afterthought.
Somewhere in his office, Ego chokes on his coffee.
Reo's frozen, a polite smile plastered on his face.
"... Sorry?"
Nagi wants to say something about the toilet flushing and spiralling water and how Reo's eyes are similar with how hypnotizing they are and—and Nagi realizes that one, explaining all this to Reo would be too much of a hassle, and two, maybe a fucking toilet was not the best thing to compare to Reo's eyes.
"Nevermind," Nagi mumbles.
Or: 5 times Nagi tries different ways to flirt with Reo (spoilers: none of them work) and one time he succeeds. Kind of.

Summary
“Did you make those?”
Reo glances at Nagi, now sitting up in a half-hearted slouch with his eyes trained on the box in Reo’s hands, then glances at the cookies, then back to Nagi.
“It’s…” just from the store, Reo means to say, but when Nagi’s gaze shifts to meet his, Reo knows he has about as much success lying to Nagi as he would refusing Nagi anything: which is to say, a possibility of zero. “Yeah,” Reo admits with a slow exhale, watching Nagi’s expression carefully. “I made them.”
“Hm,” is Nagi’s only response, and before Reo can be relieved about that being the extent of Nagi’s reaction, Nagi’s already reached over and snatched the box from Reo’s hands entirely.
“Wh—hey!”
Before Reo can protest any further or make a move to steal the box back, Nagi’s shoved an entire cookie in his mouth.
No—scratch that. Make it three entire cookies.

Summary
“—you know, they call him the treasure of Japanese soccer—”
“Treasure?” Nagi interrupts, all thoughts of the shorter article leaving his mind. He frowns, finally glancing back at the main picture. “This chibi?” he asks, and he can't help the hint of derision slipping in his tone as he eyes the black-haired player in the picture.
"No, no," Reo corrects, tapping his finger on the second figure in the picture. "The good-looking one."
Nagi blinks slowly. "Good-looking," he repeats, and Reo's eyes dart to him before darting away back to the picture.
"Err, yeah," Reo starts. "You know, handsome. Kind of in foreign-looking way, right?"
Nagi doesn't see it. He bites his tongue before he can say as much, but he can't help but prod for more information anyway. "Is it the hair?"
