Jim doesn’t remember the events on the planet at all, but strange memories haunt him day and night. Apparently, some things are rooted way deeper than Vulcan mind magic can reach.

Summary
Jim and Spock crash-land on a deserted planet. Due to an approaching ion storm, the Enterprise cannot be reached which makes rescue impossible for a few days. Spock’s irritable mood, general strangeness and fever are soon explained when Jim finds out that besides food and shelter, apparently he also needs to find a willing mate for his First Officer, so no one dies.

Summary
A continuation of the story begun with Comfort Food, though this one stands alone.
McCoy notices some abnormalities in Spock's vital signs and requests that the ship's course be diverted to the new Vulcan colony so that he can consult with a Vulcan physician, so the Enterprise goes to New Vulcan, which turns out to be nothing at all like the Vulcan Spock remembers.
K/S in later chapters. McCoy/OC; Sarek/OC.
