Neil wonders what his mother would think of him, his life now. He steps out into the cool morning air, warmed by the rising sun, and lights up a cigarette. He knows she wouldn't be angry about the multiple jail sentences he's managed to rack up. She'd be angrier that he got caught in the first place more than the record itself.
The nicotine from the cigarette lights up his veins and he takes a deep breath in, savoring the addiction in his mouth before letting it wisp away from him, carried away on a breeze.
