Ted murmurs words of comfort to her, not looking away from her for a second. He’s relieved when her breaths slow down enough for her to speak, but what she does say breaks his heart in two.
“I’m a terrible mother, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” she sobs.
He doesn’t think there’s anything she could have said that could have hurt him worse. It takes his breath away.
