Summary
One moment Joel says he's in the mood for some shitty puns, and for the first time in a long while Ellie actually feels like trying to deliver. The laugh that erupts from her as she pulls out her pun book feels alien but familiar at the same time, and she welcomes it with open arms. Joel bickers with her over how bad that one pun was, smiling so hard that wrinkles deepen around his eyes, and without even realizing it, Ellie feels something in her chest loosen.
And then something unexpectedly lands at their feet — a bomb suspiciously similar to the ones Riley had at the mall. And Joel has about half a second to cover Ellie and push her to the ground before it detonates.
