Summary
"Long, long ago there was a small kingdom. On its west border it was protected by tall mountains, to the north spread its waves the great Ocean, and its eastern and southern borders were demarked by a river. It was a very small kingdom; a single castle surrounded by a town with old, half-crumbled outer walls, three villages, six fields, four pastures, two bridges across the river, and a single guard tower high in the mountains, centuries old and long abandoned."
Gast tells 2-weeks-old Aerith a tale; he and Ifalna have a conversation.

Summary
“The tales of North” is a collection of authentic tales of Northern nations by one of the world"s most famous ethnographers and co-founder of Midgar Institute of Anthropology, Evan Marius (May 12, 1879, Niederberg - October 24, 1963, Midgar). During his expeditions through the Northern continent in 1914 - 1916 and 1923 - 1927, Marius carefully studied local culture, customs and beliefs. Aside from “The tales of North”, his expeditions resulted in “Life in extremes: Wildlife and the people of the Arctic region” (1918), “Sun, Moon and other deities in Religion of the Bael” (1919), “Diaries of the outsider” (1930) and “The road to Churindari” (1948), which he considered his major work.

Summary
“I didn’t do this,” Reno says.
“But you could have done it. You might have done it,” Tseng muses, “and you thought about it a few times.” Reno doesn’t speak. Tseng watches. “You thought about it plenty of times,” he corrects himself.
Reno closes his eyes.
