Summary
Ed is a big fan of reminding people that Izzy Hands taught him everything he knows. It's true; he certainly wouldn't have had what it takes to build an international reputation for himself as the world's most fearsome pirate, if not for Izzy.
But Izzy taught him more than just the skills he needed to be the best pirate he could be. He taught Ed how to navigate the waves of his own emotions, fickle and vitriolic as they were. Sometimes --most of the time-- he still needs help with that, but it was Izzy who started him down the path of realizing when he was starting to get out of control. It was Izzy who taught him what to do so that he could hang onto sanity by his fingertips until he was on an even keel again.
Most importantly, he teaches Ed about blanket forts.

Summary
So really, Bucky told himself frequently, he couldn’t complain. Sure, he had anxiety and nightmares and... other issues, but those were par for the course for a survivor like him. It was fine. Everything was fine, or at least as fine as it was probably ever gonna get.
But all of that was little consolation when he woke up hard as a rock and unable to find relief at 4 in the morning at least a few times a week.
