Summary
"You are staring," Dream says, after Hob has spent a few too many seconds mentally tracing all the lines swirling across his palms. Hob has to remind himself that there's no reason to be embarrassed, not now that Dream knows. Not now that they're something.
"Yeah. Just." He falters for a moment, old habits dying hard and all that, until Dream raises an eyebrow at him. "You've got pretty hands, is all."
Five times Hob is distracted by Dream's hands, and one time Dream is distracted by Hob's.

Summary
"I could stand to see you more often," Hob says, a little bit hesitant, and Dream’s eyebrows nearly rise into his hairline.
"That is truly what you wish?” He’s looking at Hob like he’s an enigma wrapped in a riddle, which is funny coming from a not-quite-man whose name he only learned last year after six hundred years of meeting.
In which Dream agrees to visit Hob more often and neither of them quite know what they're getting into.

Summary
Dream looks away, eyes fixated on his own fingers partially hidden by Hob's chest hair. "There is something you want that I have not given you."
Hob scoffs. "No. There's something I want to give you. Let you be the one to lay back and get pampered for a change."
Or Hob teaches Dream the importance of reciprocation.

Summary
They'd figured it out pretty quickly, that Dream has nightmares, that he can't sleep alone or without the television running. Three nights spent on the couch staring blankly at the living room ceiling before Dream had been about to drop from exhaustion, and Hob had to sit him down and explain the importance of talking through his problems instead of hiding them. Dream had responded by pointedly not talking for another week, until he'd finally climbed into Hob's bed one night and never left.

Summary
There's blood on Hob's hands, and the world around him feels slowed to a halt. He can hear nothing but the sound of the knife clattering to the pavement, Dream's ragged breathing, and his own pulse thudding loudly in his ears. He reaches for Dream's face, can't help himself, and vibrant red smears across pale skin.
"Are you okay?"
Please be okay, Hob thinks, and then, I love you I love you I love you.

For all that he pretends to be indifferent, there's been a new bouquet of flowers on the counter at The Dreaming every two weeks since Hob had gifted him that first bunch of daffodils.
Dream is a little bit broken. Hob likes to fix things. They fall in love.

"He—" Hob cuts himself off, head tilting slightly like the new information needs just a second to process. Dream wonders when he began to find this kind of confusion more endearing than a test of his patience.
