Summary
Buck doesn’t know when he came to the conclusion that he loved Eddie. Maybe it was when they first met, after being a jealous prick, they worked well together to pull out a grenade from that guy’s leg. Or maybe it was when Eddie cut his line in the well, when the mud covered him and all he could think about was getting Eddie out of there. Clawing at the mud and screaming his name because he couldn’t imagine a life without him. Or maybe, it was when he got struck by lightning and Eddie hadn’t left his side for days while he was in a coma. He can still feel the ghost of Eddie’s hand squeezing his, begging for him to wake up because Christopher𑁋 Eddie𑁋 needed him.
He doesn’t know when he started loving him, and maybe it was all along, but as Eddie walked down the stairs, fresh out of the shower but still looking sleep rumpled, he can for sure say he’s fallen head over heels for him.

Summary
Luckily, calls are few and far between, so Buck decides to head down to the bunk room to sleep. He faceplants into the mattress and promptly passes out.
He wakes up half an hour later to a very tired Eddie crawling onto the (very small, might I add) mattress with him.
“Eddie?” Buck is very, very confused right now.
“What?”
“What are you doing?”
“Snuggling.” He mumbles, and he wraps an arm around Buck’s middle, pressing his chest into Buck’s back. He feels like jello under his touch, and he hopes Eddie can’t feel the racing of his heartbeat.
“Okay.” He drawls, trying to think of a completely heterosexual explanation for this. He comes up empty.
“Shut up.” Eddie huffs, his breath tickling the curls on the nape of his neck. Buck thinks he may pass out, and not because he’s tired. He tries to fall asleep, he really does, but when the love of his life is big spooning him and when he can feel the rise and fall of his chest it’s hard to focus on anything but that.
Buck wakes up two hours later to an empty bed and a heart with an Eddie Diaz shaped hole in it.

Summary
Charlie is nervous. Unfortunately, curiosity is a much stronger devotion.
“So, why Emily Dickinson, hm? She doesn’t seem exactly,” an uncomfortable pause. “your thing.” Charlie smirks, any devilish indication free from his expression, but a hand gesturing to, well, Nick.
Nick bites his lip and looks down, like he is embarrassed. Before Charlie can say anything, he lets him in on something surprising. “I want to write a biography about her, someday.” He tacks on someday like it's not a possibility, Charlie resists on reminding him that people, no matter who, etch themselves into our hearts and they stay there. He doesn’t think he needs to hear about love and philosophy.
When Nick departs after a shy goodbye, Charlie makes a note to check out The Life of Emily Dickinson.

Hen reaches out of her bunk to turn off the overhead light. Buck’s face is illuminated by the glow of his phone. After a minute or so, he locks the screen, his face disappearing into the darkness.
“So what was everyone’s first kiss like?”
The Station 118 bunkroom has witnessed a lot over the years. Private conversations, spats, occasions of affection, joy, and anguish. It’s seen pranks, and games, and camaraderie. It’s even been privy to an unfolding love story or two.

"Night, Buck.” Eddie whispers into the darkness. He listens to Buck’s breathing even out, feels his own eyelids get heavy. And maybe it's the lingering tequila in his blood, or maybe it’s the exhaustion tearing down all his walls of shoulds and shouldn’ts. Either way, he barely even thinks. He just rolls over and drapes a heavy arm across Buck's waist, like it’s muscle memory. The front of his knees press into the back of Buck's, and his nose brushes against the soft skin of his neck. Buck sighs and practically melts in his arms, and before he knows it, Eddie’s falling asleep faster than he has in years.

There were instructions. A place to go, alone.
A very clear stipulation that the location was being watched. That if you were bugged, or tracked, or followed, Maddie would die.
OR -
A serial killer kidnaps Maddie and leaves a note for the person who loves her most to trade places with her. Buck is only too willing to be the one to do it. Split POV Buck and Maddie.
