"It's time for second watch," said Strohl tersely. Up until they'd crossed the Nord Mines, Will and Grius had swapped keeping guard at night. Strohl had lightly commented that they would all be more well-rested if he were allowed to take part in the watches, but Grius had ignored him.
Now he settled on the ground, wadding up his cloak behind his head.
"Make sure to wake Will up for the third watch," he said. Strohl's face lit up in a crescent-shaped smile; by God, the lad was easy enough to please, for all the imperturbability he gave off at first glance.

Ness put down his phone and looked around his apartment. Their apartment, actually; officially, the lease was in his name, but Kaiser and Isagi had gravitated towards it over the years. Old battlefields were scattered all across it—the tasteful Japanese flower arrangements Isagi had set up next to Kaiser’s extravagant, giant Ming-era vase; velvet curtains clashing with delicate light blue blinds, and of course, in pride of place, a jumble of trophies and medals and Man Of The Match awards. It was almost impossible to understand who owned which.
