Summary
Izuku's life was shattered when he was diagnosed as quirkless. It was the end of the world, until he discovered the books in his fathers study, until he read about a power thought forgotten in this world. It is a power that would let him become a hero.
However, he also learns the fundamental truth about this new power. The equation must be balanced. To give is to take, like with like. The toll comes due, but will Izuku be ready to pay it?

"I’m only two minutes late!” Izuku protested. Had he missed the start of an important test? None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.
“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”
"I’m sorry. What?”
Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

Back with the reread baby. And this deserves a revamped bookmark because truly Switchblade's gritty, grim, but truthful delivery on its plot and the characters and the moral dilemmas it presents will always be something I am in awe of, and one of the big reasons I mark Switchblade as one of my ABSOLUTE favourite MHA fics ever. I adored every single OC, from those we barely knew, to those we saw little presently of but knew everything of, and to those that were there all along and lived their own lives out of sight with their own struggles and mind. I adored War Dog- Kazetani, and False Flag- Samara so dearly, Kuma, Chris and Rafael, Epona and Influx. Fractal and Bit Weasel. All of these amazingly potent characters lived within the plot through the memories and the truths of their actions and the reality of revolution under oppression and I can never say enough to encompass how this fic worked so deeply into me it has never left my mind since the day I read it. A Million kudos to the author.

The first over-night trip off campus since the training camp was supposed to be a fun break from more intense work back home. But between a bleak introduction to chaos theory, a chilly reception from the locals, and the looming threat of a villain attack, Izuku has too much on his mind to properly enjoy the fresh air. But those worries are a light breeze compared to the hurricane that accompanies what he finds on the outskirts of town.

I FORGOT MY ROOTS ! this fic will forever be imprinted on me. FOREVER. literally genuine cinema, full of fun dynamics, interesting characters, a fulfilling plot, and good ol Izuku and Dadmight focuses ugh. its just. so good. and horrific. and i absolutely feel if MHA was allowed to be more explicitly horrific, traumatic, and shit that this could have fit into the plot like A GLOVE. its so lovely. so wonderful. I NEED TO REREAD IT SO I CAN WRITE A BETTER BOOKMARK ON IT

I haven't bookmarked this? What? Insane work. But it's one of my favorite MHA fanfics and one I would boldly say deserves to be well known, I remember starting to read it when it was only about halfway done and now it's been finished forever. And thankfully this one is just as good if not better than it was in my memory. Interesting quirk even if I wish there was a litttleee more exploration on it, fun cast of characters and good focus on Shinsou and Jiro, and then it has a clear cut and understandable progression of character development
