“You want my John Hancock? I’ll give it to you, but it’s gonna cost you, sweetheart.” He winked before realizing Steve couldn’t see it. He pushed his sunglasses up into his hair, momentarily throwing a hand across his eyes with a grunt, gritting teeth. He peeked through the shutters of his fingers, and Steve was gone. Great, just great, Eddie, you’re a real charmer, he scorned himself, blinking away the blur, and then the dark edges of his vision crept in further from the corners. He rubbed at his eyes before realizing the entire room had become scarcely lit. Eddie glanced up to see Steve flicking off the last of the lights. It left a soft amber to sneak in from the windows, replacing the harsh, noisy, LED bulbs that left even Eddie’s nerves buzzing.
"Autograph?" Steve raised an eyebrow, his voice slack with amusement. "I don't think that's exactly what's on my mind right now." He took a step closer, his eyes locked on Eddie's. "You look like you're about to keel over. Can you even hold a pen?" He nodded towards Eddie's shaking hands, which he shoved into his pockets.
