Summary
“Okay, so we need your hand.” Eddie coed at his baby, who babbled with a frown on his tiny face, complaining about having his hand cleaned so they could put the red paint into it. “I know, I know, daddy’s very mean cleaning you.”
“Hand!” Buck asked Chris, stretching his own big hand to Chris so he could do it too.
“And!” He repeated and showed his open palm to Buck.
---
Or: In one life, Eddie enlisted for the second time. In this one, Shannon was able to have her turn at running away before he could do that, and Eddie found solace in LA with his grandmother, where he and Chris met Evan Buckley and had their lives changed forever.
This is their first Christmas.

Summary
“Awesome,” Buck says quickly, “Hey, Chris!” he yells all the way from the couch.
“Geez,” Eddie sneers, “You don’t have to yell!”
“What?” Christopher yells back from his room.
“Oh god,” Eddie mumbles, brushing a hand over his face with exasperation.
There’s a huge, proud smile on Buck’s face that tells him he’s doing all of this on purpose, “Guess where we’re going for Christmas?”
Christopher doesn’t answer. Instead, the door to his bedroom opens and he steps out, the sound of his crutches loud as he clearly walks much faster than he’d normally do in the house. He gets to the doorframe of the living room, “Where?” he asks, his brows furrowed in a question. He’s curious, you can tell on the way his eyes have this little spark. Eddie could cry just for that spark. He hasn’t seen it in months.
Buck’s smiling too. Everyone in the damn house is smiling for once. He throws his head back, like a wolf about to howl, and he yells even louder, “New York, New York baby!”
OR : Christopher comes home and request a family only, white Christmas in the snow. Eddie makes it happen. Buck, per usual, tags right along.

Summary
Chris picks up his fork, looks Buck in the eye, and stabs the fork through one of the smiley face’s pancake eyes.
“Oh, wow,” Buck flinches. “Okay.”
“Now he’s winking!” Jee giggles.
“Yeah,” Chris nods. “He probably did something dumb like jump out of a second-storey house and land face-first on a fork.”
Or, Buck gets hurt, Chris gets angry, and Jee just wants to play ponies. The answer lies in a pinkie promise. Eddie doesn't get it, but he's happy to be involved.
