Summary
It makes Dean wonder what happens when planets collide with stars. What would happen, if the earth was swallowed by the sun? Would they converge, like old lovers at long last reunited? Beautiful and damned, like Icarus and Apollo? Or would they meet, scorned and scorched? Violent delights with their violent ends, fire and powder consuming and triumphant in their demise?
Dean doesn’t know, but he finds himself with eyes turned upward watching the sky, waiting to find out.

“Are you okay?”
“Peachy.” He bites out at the stranger. A stranger he can now see is a very attractive man wearing a very creepy, ill-fitting trench coat.
“You don’t look peachy.” The stranger replies with narrowed eyes.
“You should get your eyes checked. I’m fine.” Dean tells him, turning his attention to the ground at his feet. There’s a cigarette butt next to his boot. He kicks at it.
The man scoffs, which causes Dean to look back up at him and the guy looks a little darker than he did a moment ago. Stormy.
“I can see things you couldn’t even begin to fathom. I can most assuredly see right through you. You’re not, ‘peachy.’” And this asshole actually uses air quotes around peachy.

Daddy’s blunt little instrument.
It’s all he had ever known because it’s all he was ever shown. He was only as good as his last kill. His worth came from his ability to take care of Sam. He existed to take care of others. And Dean had been okay with that, or at least he thought he had been.
Everything changed for Dean when he met Castiel. And everything changed again with the love that came from knowing Castiel.

They turned toward the doors of the ER waiting room to see Eddie having just bustled in, a bit breathless.
“Eddie-“
“No, no, guys, I know I wasn’t there and I don’t exactly have the room to comment but… Buck isn’t reckless, alright? He’s smart. He knows the risks that he takes, and if he made a decision, he weighed it. Problem is, he weighs the remote chance of anyone else’s survival against his own.”
The team exchanged glances.
“You’re saying he doesn’t value his life,” Hen whispered.
