They were both exhausted.
Between caring for their son and keeping the Night Court running smoothly, hardly an hour passed in a day when they weren’t being run ragged. It didn’t help that Nyx had started teething, and he had made his displeasure with that fact well known to anyone brave enough to hold him through his cries.
It was rare, having this moment now between the two of them, Nyx fast asleep and no planned meeting or unavoidable task on either of their agendas. Sure, there were plenty of responsibilities they could be tending to. Things that were piling up with every moment they sat here, idle, but Rhys couldn’t bring himself to care as his eyelids fluttered shut under the weight of several days with little to no rest.
