Summary
It’s just that he can’t figure it out-there’s a diffuse sort of puppy-wanting in his mouth for Remus and he knows it's different than the adoration he follows James with but he can’t figure out how. Sirius watches Remus at breakfast, in class, in their dorm, the way he holds himself like an apology and a broken promise and he doesn’t know why the sight of him tastes so damn sweet.
A post-quidditch party: Sirius, too much beer, and everything he wants to say to Remus but doesn't know how to.

Summary
Remus Lupin, by all accounts, is doing well. He’s a high paying art restorer with a lovely boyfriend and an even lovelier flat. Unfortunately, during the wee hours of the morning of his thirtieth birthday, Remus does not feel like he’s doing well. On a whim, he packs a bag and runs off to the south of France where he hopes to find some semblance of where he belongs. Along the way, he finds himself taken with a man who’s got everything figured out and is oddly fascinated with cuttlefish.

“He’s coming home, James. What the hell am I meant to do with that? It’s been eight fucking years and we’re meant to... what? Just meet him at the pub? Buy him a drink like-” He shakes his head. “What will I do with my face?”
James takes a sip of lemonade, taking his role as designated driver very seriously as always. He has a smudge of dirt on his nose from ‘wrestling a conifer the size of a bear’, but Sirius doesn’t think to mention it because he’s somewhat preoccupied with his own problems, which, for the avoidance of doubt, are many and insurmountable.
“Your face?”
“Yes, exactly! It’ll give me away the second he sees me. He’ll know right away that eight bloody years has done nothing at all to dampen it down. Dripping with hurt. As if I don’t still feel-”
