How to Train Your Dragon Limited Life crossover where Scar is a Viking suffering from chronic pain who is desperately trying to fit in as the Chieftess's (Cleo's) eldest son. In this world, they have to fight against hybrids instead of dragons each hybrid having a different type of magic which enables flight. With the two most dangerous being the Scarlet Macaw and the Watcher. In one such raid, Scar sets out to shoot down a hybrid and manages to shoot down the Scarlet Macaw. When he goes out later to retrieve his kill, he finds the hybrid very much alive and decides to free it instead, in which case he inevitably befriends it. Nothing could go wrong with this.

also also, this was inspired by SouthEastCompass's AU "Heart of a Killer" and you should go check it out, its really good!

The worst part was the last few moments.
Straining for all he was worth, wings burning and aching with exhaustion built up to the roots. When his talons brushed the dirt, he felt the warning signs, pinpricks racing around his collar, letting him know he was about to make a mistake. Which wasn’t his fault. Grian was well aware of that much.
He’d crash-land anyway.
{In which Grian is suspicious of his new masters, Scar and Mumbo have zero clue how to take care of avians, the world is there to hurt, be hurt, or get stolen from, and in the end, someone always has to get lucky. Grian's hoping this time around, it'll finally be him.}

“You’re beautiful,” Aether reaches forward to press a kiss to Albedo’s sternum, hands barely brushing over his hips. “You’re handsome.” He gently tugs Albedo forward. “You’re ethereal.” Aether’s fingers barely skim through the soft and fuzzy blonde hair of Albedo’s happy trail. “You’re amazing.” Aether presses a kiss to either side of Albedo’s chest. “I love you.”
Albedo’s breath hitches, and when Aether looks up, he’s startled to see that there’s tears collecting in his eyes. Before Aether can say anything else, Albedo tangles his fingers into Aether’s loose hair, pulling him closer, face pressing into warm and soft skin.

Penguins are overrated, in Katsuki's mind. They smell, they're loud, and they shit every ten minutes. How he ended up working with them, he doesn't know, but he hates it.
Okay, so maybe he needed a pay raise. Sue him. That doesn't mean he enjoys it. It's hard to enjoy getting bit every time he so much as looks at a penguin, after all. Let alone when he tries to handle one.
It certainly doesn't help that he keeps getting paired with Kirishima, who's all smiles and way too damn friendly for his own good.

Or, when Katsuki works as an animal handler because he's broke and hungry, and inadvertently warms up to both the penguins, and a certain red-haired boy.

But they had encouraged him when he had told them that he wanted to start working out, asking for a set of weights for his birthday when they took him to pick out a final present.
He had always just had this unshakable feeling that he needed to be strong.
So he became strong.
He had grown into a man that his mother’s could be proud of, and had almost managed to completely squash that bizarre feeling of not belonging.
