“What are you wearing?” Alicent hissed, ambushing Rhaenyra after the small council meeting once the men had all left. She pulled her by the arm into a tapestry covered alcove, and not by the… Alicent inhaled sharply and shakily, snapping her gaze back to Rhaenyra’s face.
“Oh, this?” Rhaenyra said. Her usually low voice was soft and highly pitched. As though she was surprised to be accosted, her eyes grew wide. Playing at the innocent child that she never had been, always insolent, always up to something. Slowly, she slid her thumbs between the silk of her dress and the gold chain shimmering around her waist.
Alicent and Rhaenyra have a chat. That's all.

Rhaenyra Targaryen is on track to burn out after college—sure, she studies business to appease her father, but all she wants to do is fuck around and play the drums and make it to graduation. Enter Alicent Hightower, the prissy younger sister of her bandmate, Gwayne, who shares a class with her. She's far too mean, reminds Rhaenyra of every girl that would have bullied her in high school, has a douchey boyfriend, and listens to terrible pop music and nothing else. Couldn't be more opposite of Rhaenyra if she tried. However, when the two of them exchange notes and homework for their shared class, both of them discover that maybe they were wrong about each other. This, of course, is terrible news for everyone involved.

Summary
Alicent Hightower offered King's Landing to Rhaenyra Targaryen in a desperate attempt to end the war between their houses. Wanting revenge for the death of her own son, Lucerys, at the hands of Alicent's son, Aemond, the Black Queen wants the Usurper's head served in a silver platter. And Alicent, knowing all that is at stake and wanting peace for her daughter and granddaughter, agrees.
But when Rhaenyra comes to collect her half-brother's head as was promised, Alicent finds the King's chamber empty and with no sign of where he might be. And then, the game changes for both Alicent and Rhaenyra, two doomed queens who will have to face something worse than war.
The truth that has always resided in their souls.
OR
Aegon escapes and Alicent becomes the Queen in Chains, but Rhaenyra is a fool in love and cannot keep Alicent away for too long because she know the two of them are doomed by the narrative and she doesn't wish to waste time.
