It’s a little lonely sometimes; somehow a little… existentially wrong, sure, with a past he’s still burying and a future he can’t figure out, but he’s not going to bitch about it. Alastair is so close Dean can hear both their hearts beating now, his loud in his ears, the demon’s just below the surface of his chest, and it really shouldn’t surprise him that hearts can beat in Hell. The fact still clenches in his throat, proof of something he can’t name.
He knows, somehow, that right about now there’s supposed to be someone else there. Someone here to save him.
