“Are you still awake?” Anakin asked.
The captain stirred himself once more, rising from where he embraced the floor, to his hands and knees. Stars, how his spine ached. Rex grunted his acknowledgement, hanging his head and stretching his stiffened neck. His body felt rumpled and thirsty, but the disorienting heat had successfully been sapped from his body into the earthen floor.
“Yes, sir.” Rex sat back on his heels and stretched his arms in great arches overhead and to the side to loosen a knot bound in the muscles between his scapulae. He peered at Anakin, who sat on one hip before the water bowl. In his mechnohand, he held the wash rag between himself and Rex.
“Will you wash my back?”
