Summary
“Ah, dove,” said the umavi, using the Old Drow word for dove that also meant dear, also meant, less flatteringly, game pigeon. As a child, Essek had found the very existence of a word for a surface bird in Old Drow amusing, perplexing, until Deirta had informed him that in her youth the high houses had reared doves by hand in the Underdark, and fed them to their matriarchs. “What is to be done about you?”
-Essek has always been hungry. It is fitting then, that hungry is how he will die.

Summary
“Did you do it?”
Bren breathes in sharply, blinking away the last of the disorientation left over from his teleport before looking in Essek’s direction. He can hardly see anything, thanks to the lack of light in the laboratory, Essek evidently having chosen to do his studying this evening by way of his darkvision, but it doesn’t bother him. There is still enough ambient light from the windows that Bren can make out the faint shine of white hair and a shadowed shape—the gleam of reflective eyes staring back at him.
He steps forward, shakes out his arms. His wrists. Lets the long, lean form of himself be made prevalent even as he prowls his way forward to the waiting dark elf, who sits poised in long, flowing robes, quill and ink still in hand. He likes the way it makes Essek shiver as he gets close whenever he does so. Especially now, with spots of blood still flecking his sleeves and face.
“Do you really think,” he says calmly, “I would be here now, if I hadn’t?”

Summary
When Beauregard asks for Dairon's help freeing a friend held captive by the Cerberus Assembly, they agree, expecting a rescue mission to clear the way to bring down Trent Ikithon for good. But when they meet Essek Thelyss in the depths of the Vergesson Sanatorium, they discover that Beauregard hasn't told them everything.
As the clock runs down and Dairon and Essek find themselves in a game of wits not only with the Assembly but with each other, they must find a way to trust each other--or risk neither of them making it out alive.

Summary
An idea of what the life of the Mighty Nein might look like after they retire as an adventuring party to each pursue their more individual hopes and dreams. Their lives are by no means boring despite the change in lifestyle, but they still make time to come together to see one another. Lots of cute domestic fluff because it's what they deserve.
