“I kind of… not-so-subtly brought marriage up the other day and…” Jayce frowns, casting his eyes down into his cold coffee. “It didn’t seem like Viktor was interested in it.”
“It’s just!” Jayce rambles on before she can speak, waving his hands, “I’ve always wanted what you and Dad had. That closeness. And now I have that, more or less… and I know it sounds greedy, but I want more. The ceremony and the rings and stuff. I know it’s not, like, a requirement, but I want us to be that kind of couple.” He might be spiraling. Again. “Do you remember how Viktor doesn’t have a last name? I want him to have mine! That’s not wrong, right?”
His mother’s expression softens. She reaches across the table to take one of Jayce’s hands in hers. “Honey…” She almost looks nervous when she says, “Don’t take this the wrong way. I think you might be overthinking it.”

Jayce steps out of the smoke. For a split second, Caitlyn takes him in. His hair is down to his chin, tangled and dirty. His clothes are a mess. Practically ripped to shreds. He’s dragging something— Caitlyn thinks it's his hammer for a second, but it doesn’t look right. He’s grown a beard.
He’s alive.
Jayce is alive.
Or, the missing scenes in which Jayce, presumed dead, shows up out of nowhere and drags Caitlyn, her girlfriend, and her mother's killer out of the Undercity.
