Kobra chugs half the bottle of water, wipes his mouth on his sleeve, and starts back toward the bleachers on the sidelines of the crashtrack.
“Hey,” someone calls out, and he ignores it at first because they could be talking to anybody here, “hey! Blonde mohawk with the shades, make a U-turn!”
Kobra stops.
“Yeah,” the other ‘joy calls out, squaring up and fixing him with a snarl, “I’m talkin’ to you. You come out here and hog the track for almost five fuckin’ hours, and then you drink the last damn bottle of water? Are you some kind’a moron?”
Kobra clenches his fists at his sides. He’s been reckless lately, but Party had called out “be safe” when Kobra left the diner this morning, so today he’s drinking water for once, and he’s taken smaller breaks to stretch or to rest. He’s been staying safe.
Starting a fight wouldn’t be very safe.

Their brother looks like he’s been put through the wringer. His hair is greasy, his skin looks clammy, his clothes are sweaty, and his chest rattles with each breath he takes.
“You,” Party says, “are not lookin’ green at all. It’s time for a shower.”
