“I was just about to look for you.” Gyomei explained, his scrunched up face relaxing at the sound of her approaching footsteps stopping in front of him. Upon facing her, she noticed that his kasugai crow, Zekka, was perched on his shoulder.
“I’m home now.” She smiled beneath the uniform’s mask. How kind of him to worry. Zekka leaned down from his shoulder as she reached up to pat the top of his head, earning a loud deep caw from the crow. She and Gyomei laughed lightly at Zekka’s excitement.
“Welcome back.” Gyomei greeted, his eyes crinkling with his soft smile.

Summary
(name) Tomoyuki has always felt the embrace of the cold. From winter snow to frostbitten fingers, it’s all she’s ever known. She found comfort and solitude in the quiet cold and was comfortable staying that way.
Meeting him changed all of it. She had always known of his existence, they worked together after all. He was a bright, warm flame, in deep contrast to her. She never felt the need to go beyond just a cordial work relationship.
He made that first move. The embodiment of fire and warmth closed in and enveloped her, defrosting her chilled soul. Just a taste of the licks of flame drew her in more, craving to feel that warmth until it became unbearably hot.
Maybe he was drawn to the blistering cold as well. Maybe he craved the chills she gave him whenever she walked into a room.
