Summary
She lifts her head up to ask and finds that the Bat has disappeared into thin air.
She has no way of knowing that when she gets inside of her apartment, when she finds herself getting sick, that the Bat has returned elsewhere. That he is troubled when he disembarks from his motorbike, taking his helmet off in his hide out, surrounded by a deep cavern and the command center he's made for himself.
She has no idea that when he removes the contacts in his eyes, recording everything, that he won't replay the battle he had tonight or the meeting he had. He will in fact look at her face and see the face of his dead best friend, staring at him from her.
He will replay it over and over again for an hour, the way she had looked, the fear on her face and he will think of Johnny Cade grinning at him and going, Hey, Ponyboy. You wanna leave?
