Summary
The thwap-skrich of knock-off slides against concrete. A gait somewhere between a limp and a swagger. A cigarette pinched between a thumb and pointer finger, poised to meet a scruffy jawline.
“Don’t you got better places to be, kiddo?”
As if this day couldn’t get any worse.
The Hickfield Clinic, of course. He always passed by it on his way to the courthouse. He knew that much.
What he wasn’t expecting was for his former hero, current asshole boss, to be propped up outside the back entrance, a crutch in one hand, cigarette in the other. Still in yesterday’s hoodie and sweats.
Wright lets out a long whistle, the corner of his lip curled up in another infuriatingly smug pastiche of a smile. “Someone looks like death run over,” he chuckles, taking in another drag. “Long night?”
Big words coming from the man who was literally mowed down by a car, but whatever.
Apollo has been chasing father figures his entire life, but now that another one is gone, he’s not exactly impressed with the man left in his place.

Summary
That's it, Daddy! she'd laughed. Piano's your other talent! I mean, you're not that good at it, but it's better than nothing!
Is that what he's doing here, Kristoph as his maligned piano? Kristoph readjusts his glasses and then touches his cheek, fingers very light. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," Phoenix says, clears his throat. "Sorry, just lost in thought."
Kristoph feeds him salad and duck and wine, and Phoenix eats it all out of his hand. Kristoph puts his hands to Phoenix's hair, his shoulders, his thighs. The graceless collapse of it all, and how nothing has really changed; he steps out onto the street still, and the sun glances off the windows the same as it always has. Kristoph is his total comedown, his moon dust, his blister and his isopropyl.
Or, spend enough years in stasis with the same person and things start to go a bit lopsided.

Summary
“Well!” trills Maya when it becomes obvious Franziska has finished tacking up the horses by herself. “Let’s get going!”
“Yes. Let’s.” Neither of them move. Franziska’s tongue ties itself into knots. “Where are we going?”
She has not thought this far. And she does not know this place at all, aside from the places that were a murder scene, which she remembers in far too much detail.
“I thought… Of course, you haven’t been outdoors here that much. Let me think…”
Something curls hot in Franziska immediately, watching Maya’s brow furrow, at already having wasted all the goodwill Maya should possibly have to offer in getting to this point, and yet there still somehow being more.
“We can just go out back, in the field? When tourists get bored with the shrine they hike up to Mt. Komagatake, so there must be a trail somewhere.”
Maya has things handled. Somehow, this feels worse than when Franziska was pretending to be in control.Franziska and Maya go for a trail ride in the Kurain mountains.

Summary
And oh, yeah. He kinda got shot.
The warmth that had dusted up his skin from the brusque yank of Edgeworth’s fingers turns at once to prickly awareness. Honestly he hasn’t really noticed until now, because everything else has sort of been a lot in the intervening twenty seconds, but now that he looks down at it, it starts to hurt.
“Ow,” he says, like an afterthought.
Out of the corner of his eye he can see Edgeworth’s face go that particularly terrifying shade of strained purple he knows very well, so he doesn’t look, just investigates as the pain flares into true, hot agony for the first time. And yeah, ow. There’s a little round hole punched into him just under his belt line, on the outside of his thigh where he can just barely see it without twisting around - which makes it not quite his thigh, sort of, but definitely still his leg, unless it’s too high up…
Okay, it’s his ass. He got shot in the ass.
Phoenix and Miles investigate together. It goes well (?)
