Summary
The tissue in Buck's right hand crumples within the tight grasp he has around it, and a flower petal withers in the middle of his chest, falling down to lie on top of the other bright purple and white, limp and lifeless. The cool air in the room helps to dry his tears, and as he goes to speak up again, the thorn elongates.
"There's no one else I'd rather be in love with, or be loved by. So, if I have to die knowing that I at least made them feel how I've always wanted to, then I will," he declares, around the taste of a stem. How funny it is that a form of life expels itself from him, while he's dying on the inside. "Love has always come with pain, at least for me. And if I can take some of theirs with me, and give them the last month I have to show them how much I care for them before I go, then that's what I'll do. Because there will never be a lifetime in which I don't put them first, or their happiness. Even if their happiness doesn't include me."

Summary
Maddie, Chim and Josh set Buck and Eddie up on a blind date, but their plans are ruined when Buck unexpectedly saves Christopher from an accident beforehand. Luckily, after meeting and talking to Eddie, Buck still agrees to go out with him.

"There's something in your eyes that feels like something I haven't had in a long time, or have ever had. And I just knew that if I passed this up, I wouldn't get the opportunity to ever have anything close to this again."
"What does it feel like?" Eddie asks him, with something akin to wonder and understanding painted on his features. The hand he was comforting himself with, comes back down to meet with his again, and the hold is tight and secure, grounding. His fingertips turn white with his reciprocating hold, uncaring of the slight twinge of pain that comes from his injured arm as he latches on.
The burn underneath the gauze sears like the red imprinted in his skin, and it matches the flush on Buck's cheeks, as he says. "It feels like coming home."

When Buck corners them in the locker room and confronts them all about acting weird, hugs are shared, Buck confesses to them about his feelings, and a surprising bet is shared.

Summary
Eddie allows himself to be pulled into a tight and secure embrace, and allows his eyes to fall shut and for himself to lean into the hold. As soon as his eyes close, and his unsteady body makes contact with Hen and Chimney's, and as they hug him with all of their might, he only has one single and repetitive thought and plea looping itself throughout his mind. Please, just please, come back to me.
Eddie swears on the spot. That if he's given another chance to be able to hold Buck again, and have him safe and stable in his arms, he'll make it up to him. He'll make him feel as loved and as wanted as he truly is, and he'll figure his own shit out in the meantime. He'll take care of him until he's back on his feet, and then he'll tell Buck exactly how he feels about him.

Summary
"Eddie," Buck somehow forms in the moment, the hands grasping along his jawline bending and curling in, in a way he knows is a silent gesture of comfort. Eddie tilts his head forward until his own rests upon Buck's, and they're as close as they can possibly be. Buck's heartbeat pounds erratically in his chest, and he coerces himself to breathe in enough before he begins to feel even more lightheaded. "How do you see me?"
A small titter of laughter escapes him, and Eddie allows a small, shy smile to graze his face. The simple movement brushes against Buck's own cheeks, and he mimics the movement, with mild amusement beginning to fill him. "As if I can see you in any other way that wouldn't have me falling in love with you."
(Buck believes he's at fault for Christopher getting lost during the tsunami, and that he failed and could have done better. He begins to isolate himself and call out of work, thinking that his absence is the best thing for everyone around him. Eddie comes over to tell him he's wrong, and that he's so much more loved and valued than he can ever imagine.)
