She gives him a blank look. Jayce levels one back. He isn’t sure which one of them is more confused.

Summary
Viktor's mind feels like a challenge, a race where Jayce has to sprint to catch up before losing sight of the next move. Normally, Jayce would be eager to outpace it, to prove he’s faster and already onto the next stride. But there’s something about the way the page looks - with Viktor’s handwritten notes beside his.
It’s almost as if, when Viktor is a step ahead (and Jayce knows he is), he pulls Jayce right alongside him - and then pushes him forward.

Jayce is an engineering professor at Piltover University, working on a (stalled) research project for a year. Viktor, the new professor at the university, takes an interest in Jayce’s research and offers his help. Jayce accepts.
